East of Mérida, is a place, east of Yucatán, within Mexico's peninsula. I purposely chose this tittle because it centers two land masses, in which my identity swims in a post-colonial diaspora. My roots, to my knowledge, is ingrained and rooted at the high and low nearing continental lands of East of Mérida, compiled and mounted with layers of oppression, layers of destroyed history, and conditions created by capitalist tools of identity, and so, in a time, where knowing one's self is crucial, I look at this project as the ground wire to my self, to scan through those layers and shed what needs to be shedding, and to preserve what all think is "lost."
